Breaking the taboo
“I can’t make that time - I have therapy”.
I sent this this week when scheduling a session with a CMO.
I could’ve lied…
But that won’t help shed this bull💩 taboo that challenging mental health = weakness.
I saw this first hand recently…
A friend reached out who’s having a tough time and is considering seeing someone.
She said: “I know I shouldn’t feel embarrassed, but I do.”
Embarrassed? Screw that mate, you should be PROUD.
IMO…
Having the self-awareness to seek support is brave and generous….
It benefits the people YOU LOVE as much as YOU!
So, the more open we are about our struggles…
The more vocal we can be about asking for help…
The more normalised this will become.
You don’t have to share as publicly as me.
But we can each in our own way step out of the shadows to be the change we’d like to see.
Who’s with me?
P.S – I’ve been blown away by the reception this post is got on LinkedIn – the thread is GOLD DUST…I know it’ll help many people considering asking for help. Grateful to everyone who’s commented for contributing to this important conversation and growing its reach. Feel free to add your thoughts here.
